I finished a hat. I feel like it was a total waste of time. Sure, the hat is "okay," But I don't like the fit of it...on me. I will most likely give this one to one of my daughters. It's a tight skull cap sort of hat, which is great for folks that DO NOT HAVE BIG HAIR. I have big hair and it doesn't work. The hat is cute on someone else.
I also had some problems knitting this...explanation on the "verdict."
Specs on the hat:
Pattern: Delite Hat - A free Zephyr Style pattern.
Yarn: about 1/2 a skein of LB Wool Ease in the white/sparkly multi color.
Needles: US # 6, 16-inch circular and double pointed needles.
Mods: I followed the pattern almost exact. There was a mistake in the "round 4" lace pattern. Where it says "slip 1, K2, PSSO" It should be a K2tog, rather than a K2. This makes a decrease two stitches in one spot, to make a point in the lace pattern. Just a head's up if you plan to knit the hat.
Time: 3 days. Nov 20 - 23. The only reason it took forever is the pattern stitch. I have come to find that I HATE twisted rib. Sure it's fine in small doses, but for an entire hat?
Verdict: Well, the final hat is about an inch too short. I should have went to 6 inches of even hat-ness before the decreases, rather than the pattern's 5 inches. It may have fit me better had it been longer. I found the twisted rib to be fiddly and tedious on double pointed needles. I struggled with it. MEH!
