It's cleaning day around here. I've been trying to keep busy...So, aside from cleaning, Hubby and I decided to redo the kitchen cabinets again. They are boring white-painted 1970's cabinets. We've made them look like light wood, for a time, with nifty contact paper. We took it down about a month ago. Now, we are trying a new look/color for the kitchen cabinets. Here's what we did...although we aren't finished. We have to cute the trim off of the edges, still. Yeah, yeah, I am getting to it. I'm on break.
The BEFORE picture. Okay, it's a little messy in the kitchen. This photo was taken about a month ago, when we peeled off the "light wood" contact paper from the cabinets.
The AFTER picture. For some reason the camera doesn't quite capture the green color. It's not that light. It's more of a lime green with white patterns. I am not sure I like it yet. I suppose I could change it in a few months. That's the beauty of contact paper, it just peels right off. The green paper gives it a 50's vintage feel, maybe? What I'd really love is a bright red contact paper to cover my cabinets with...One day. I 'd have to find some first. Hmmmm...?

Oh wow, I hadn't even considered this before. I'm not sure it would work for us, as our cabinets are grooved "decorative" doors (straight out of 1972), but I'm definitely going to investigate them further to see if this is possible.
ReplyDeleteOur kitchen is in desperate need of change. This could be just the trick -- cheap and easy, just how I like it. LOL
PS - I'm using Cotton Ease, not Microspun for my tank. So far I've used one skein, and the tank measures about 8" tall (207 sts around). I bet Microspun would work just as well, though I think it may be a tad thinner gauge than the Cotton Ease.
