I went to the OHSU Emergency Room early this morning. I spent most of my day in there getting poked and prodded. I had been planning to just head up to my local health clinic, but things kind of happened in the last two days that forced me to the ER.
I don't have health insurance at all...and the ER visit is going to haunt me, money-wise, for a long time, I am sure. Oh well...
So, starting on Christmas, I began feeling poorly. It got worse and I felt like I had the flu. No big deal...except my symptoms got worse. I began to suspect that I was suffering from a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). I've never had one before..? I began drinking water constantly. By New Year's Eve, I was in pain and misery. I haven't slept much since New Year's Eve. Anyways, I ended up in the ER because the pain got to be too much and nothing worked in managing it. I pretty much curled up into a fetal position, in bed, last night. I was seriously concerned about the infection getting into my kidneys, being a Type 1 Diabetic and all...
I went to the ER and was quickly seen. My blood pressure was elevated, blood sugar high and my heart rate was also faster than it should have been (from the infection and dehydration). If those numbers did not come down...I was being admitted, but luckily they did a bit. I was pretty dehydrated despite the amount of water I was consuming. I tested positive for the UTI. (duh)
I was prescribed antibiotics. I will be getting the prescrip filled tomorrow morning sometime. I couldn't muster the energy to go and do that tonight. It's bleepin' cold and the windchill here is about 20 degrees. Meh! So, I am hoping that I will be back to normal in a few days. For now...I am a bit moody, tired, hungry and in pain. I am not great company...I can't even knit all that much. BOO!
I hope everyone else has had a much better holiday time than I have been having. I need to go and lay down now...Have a nice evening. I will write again when I can.

So sorry to hear about your health problems---hope you are well soon---
ReplyDeleteBeing sick sucks - especially during the holidays! Hope the antibiotics and rest work wonders for you!
ReplyDeleteKidney infections are the WORST. I'm so sorry. Even worse is, once you start getting them they tend to come back easier - at least that's how it was with me :( I hope you feel better, take it easy. If it's any consolation, I had a really bad infection that I picked up in NYC over New Year's and now I'm just getting over it.
ReplyDeleteoh no! i'm glad you are home and really hope you get better soon.
