I started a crochet project two nights ago. Why? I have no idea. I get these urges to crochet and I go with it. I have actually been a crocheter much longer than a knitter. I admit, I don't crochet as much as I used to. Knitting sort of took over. I am a much more experienced knitter than a crocheter. Here is how it works out...
Crochet + 23 years = intermediate level
Knitting + 9 years = advanced level
What this means? I much prefer knitting, I guess. I have never been able to find the balance to perform both crafts at the same time. I do admit to being a faster crocheter than a knitter.
So, what project did I start? The Granny Stripe Blanket by The Purl Bee. I had some green and white acrylic that I had been wanting to use up. Crochet afghans/blankets are my favorite way to use up large quantities of acrylics. (Red Heart Supersaver) I wanted an easy pattern to make a "bed sized" afghan...and the Granny Stripe Blanket fit that bill. The original pattern uses much thinner yarn and a smaller hook. I did edit the beginning chain to be significantly smaller. I only chained 200 to begin my blanket, and it will still be huge, since I am using Worsted Weight yarn and an I hook.
I have 6 large skeins of the green yarn. I think I will use the entire skein for the green sections, to make large green sections between the small white stripes. So, 6 large green sections and smaller white stripes. This is the plan...
This blanket will be going on my queen sized bed, eventually. I plan to go to IKEA and purchase a new duvet cover with blues and green, sometime in the Spring. My current bedding is a really dark purple...no green match there. Maybe this blanket will be completed in Spring...
I am still knitting on many, many projects...I just need some crochet time, to break things up. Beisdes, I can't remember the last time I crocheted an afghan...?
I had to actually look this up on my ravelry page. When was the last time I actually crocheted a blanket? Ummm...not since Spring 2008 when I made the Circles To Squares Afghan.
Again with the green color...? I still have this afghan, stashed somewhere in a closet. It needs washing before I can put it out again. That blanket was Phinn, the cat's, favorite blankie to nap on...
Okay, I should cut this post off, for now. My internet keeps going in and out. No idea why? I do hope you all have a great weekend. Happy Friday! Happy Yarn Crafting. Toodles!

Ha! Me, too. I dragged out my crochet hooks to do some dishcloths. I find I much prefer them in crochet because if one loop goes in knitting, suddenly I have a run in my dishcloth. But if one loop goes in crochet, I just pull it tight and keep using the dishcloth until it completely falls apart.
