I have made some great progress on the front of my Route 1 pullover this weekend. I finished one full repeat of the cable pattern. Yay me! I was knitting the piece of straight needles. Bad idea. On row 22 of the chart, I decided that knitting the front piece on circular needles was a better idea. So, I switched. Once I got all of the stitches onto the circular needle and was able to spread out the pattern stitches and have a good look at them...I noticed a mistake. (sobs) On a row, probably 13 rows ago, I missed crossing a cable. I never would have seen it, all scrunched up on the straight needle...and just noticed it as I switched to the circular needle.
I am not sure if the mistake is THAT easy to spot. I can see it. I know it's there. My instinct is to rip the entire front piece out and start again, in a fit of anger. I am a perfectionist and slightly OCD about mistakes. Right now, it is driving me a bit crazy. Seriously, I could not sleep last night, mulling over this stupid little mistake. Another part of me wants to just say "Eff it!" and keep going...We could just ignore the mistake and call it a design element. I am not sure if it is really that noticeable. Argh! I know it's there, though. It drives me nuts!
What would you do?
During the whole Super Bowl thing...I crocheted on my blanket, rather than knit on anything. I made some good progress. I finished one green segment and started a second one. One green segment is a full skein of Red Heart Super Saver. I just crocheted til I ran out of yarn, about 10 inches. This crochet blanket eats yarn like no tomorrow. So, if you have several skeins of acrylic that you want to use up, this project is a good choice for that. This crocheted blanket is kind of relaxing to work on...I'm enjoying it.
Sadly, I had not worked on any hexipuffs over the weekend. My weekly challenge is shot to hell. BOO on me! I should knit a few puffs today and see if I can catch up.
I am not going to knit on my pullover today. I am going to think, long and hard, about what to do about that stupid mistake. I am not going to do anything rash, like rip it out, in a tantrum. Just breathe...probably bury it in the bottom of my WIPs basket...
Happy Monday! I hope your day is a good one...

I can't see the mistake, if that helps your dilemma at all. :)
ReplyDeleteIf the mistake is in the photo, I can't see it but I am like you and would think everyone sees it--- you may need to rip it back so you can sleep ! LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, after thinking on it ALL day...I decided to rip out the sweater and call it a fail. I re-added the Route 1 pullover to my ravelry queue for later knitting. I do still love the sweater. Just not right now, I guess. It was my own stupid mistake. Moving on...Lol!
